Indian Army SSC Technical April Recruitment 2025-26

The Indian Army (Bharatiya Sena) has released a notification on its official website for the recruitment of SSC Technical April 2026 for both unmarried males and females, and also for the widows of Armed personnel who gave their ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. This recruitment is for 350 positions for males and 29 positions for females. The Application Form has started on 23 July 2025 & the candidates can apply till 21 August 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Candidates must be:

  • Citizens of India, or
  • Subjects of Nepal, or
  • Persons of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and certain East African countries to permanently settle in India (with a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India, except Gorkha subjects of Nepal).

Educational Qualification

  • For Male and Female SSC (Tech):

Candidates should have completed their Engineering Degree program (BE/B.Tech) in the listed fields of engineering. For those in their final year of study, they must present proof of passage of the degree exam by 1 April 2026 and will submit the degree certificate within 12 weeks of starting the training.

For Widows of Defence Personnel:

  • SSCW (Non-Tech): Completion of a degree in any field.
  • SSCW (Tech): SSCW (Tech): B.E/TECH is an engineering field.
  • Important: Candidates who have final year/semester exams scheduled after April 1, 2026, are not eligible.

Application & Selection Process

Application Submission

  • Male and female candidates can apply online via the official Indian Army recruitment portal: joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  • Widows of Defence Personnel must apply in person to the Ministry of Defence at the Directorate General of Recruiting in New Delhi, which also should include required documents (marriage certificates, casualty report, etc).

Shortlisting

  • Applications will be shortlisted based on academic performance (cut-off percentage varies by discipline) and vacancy-to-call-up ratio.
  • Final year students may provisionally appear for SSB if they meet the minimum academic conditions.

SSB Interview

  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for a five-day Services Selection Board Interview conducted at centres in Allahabad, Bhopal, Bengaluru, and Jalandhar.
  • The selection consists of psychological tests, group tasks, and personal interviews.
  • Only those clearing Stage 1 proceed to Stage 2; non-selected candidates are returned the same day.

Medical Examination

  • Candidates recommended by the SSB will undergo medical tests as per Army standards.
  • Medical health is a requirement for final selection.

Training

  • SSB shortlisted candidates will go through medical exams to Army standards.
  • Training is conducted at the Pre-Commissioning Training Academy (PCTA).

Important Notes & Instructions

  • Candidates can apply for only one engineering stream/discipline.
  • Mismatches in degree stream name or personal details may lead to disqualification.
  • All candidates must provide original/provisional degree certificates and semester marksheets during the SSB.
  • The date of birth must match the Matriculation/Secondary School certificate.
  • Widows’ applications must be complete and submitted by the offline deadline; late or incomplete applications will be rejected.
